Breakfast Club

At Bygrove we want every child to start the day with everything they need in order to learn effectively; a fundamental element of this is a healthy, filling breakfast. The chance to socialise with peers & adults, to keep fit & play also play an important role in readying children for the day ahead.

Our breakfast club is open from 7.45am serving a wide range of breakfast delights; porridge, cereal, toast, bagels, pancakes, yoghurts, eggs, cheese and fruit are on offer every day. When they’ve finished eating and socialising the children have a chance to take part in a variety of activities including tennis, board games and art. Bagels and fruit are also offered within the classrooms to anyone coming in feeling hungry, courtesy of the charity ‘Magic Breakfast’.  The breakfast club benefits from the support of the Magic Breakfast Mayor’s Fund for London Project.

All food served at the breakfast club is halal.  We also cater for different dietary needs.  Breakfast club costs just 50p per day and the children can come for any number of days each week.

After School Clubs

Children can sign up to take part in after school clubs each term. They can choose from a wide variety of clubs including singing, football, tennis, healthy cooking, basketball and computer coding. Pupils pay a small charge towards the cost of running the clubs. Clubs run from 3.45 – 4:45pm.

Our Clubhouse after school provision also runs daily from 3:45 – 5:30pm and is a friendly space to play games with our friends and also quietly complete homework or read.

Stay and Play

Parents of nursery children are invited to stay and play in the nursery with their children once a week. Stay and Play time is usually advertised in our weekly newsletter. They may also bring younger siblings with them. Toy packs are available for parents and children to borrow each week.

Services for Families

We employ a social worker one day a week to work with families who would like support.  This fantastic early help support can offer vital support and advice to our families and also liaise with other external agencies. We also employ an attendance welfare officer to support families in bringing their children to school and monitoring their attendance.

Family Engagement Officer

Our Family Engagement Officer offers support & guidance for families & signposts other agencies & services to them. She is full-time & can help with a range of issues from housing to domestic violence, secondary transfer to benefits; if she can’t help then she’ll know someone who can. She also arranges and delivers regular workshops for parents including the Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities course, online safety, maths, reading & behaviour.

Our Family Engagement Officer is Sharon Gibbs she can be contacted on sgibbs@letta.org.uk

Speech & Language Therapy

We know that early diagnosis & intervention pays great dividends in speech therapy. We employ a speech & language therapist for 2 days a week to support our children in order to enable them to access the whole curriculum. Part of her role is to train our teaching teams in the most effective speech & language techniques and support the implementation and continuous assessment of interventions.

Emotional Literacy Support Assistant

We know that supporting our children’s emotional literacy & regulation is vital in ensuring that they are happy and able to learn to their full potential. To that end we have two fully trained Emotional Literacy Support Assistants who offer 1:1 sessions to children within our school. These sessions provide a safe space for children to work on understanding how they feel in different situations and develop strategies that build confidence, resilience & social skills.

Educational Psychology Service

We believe that early identification and support is key to ensuring that all children succeed so we employ an Educational Psychologist. The EPS supports us through a service level agreement to raise achievement and deliver positive outcomes for children. Their work is underpinned by collaborative, joint problem-solving approaches and evidence-based practice.
